Virgin Voyages' guide to New York City, New York
Although New York needs no introduction, we’re thrilled to introduce it as one of our newest (& most exciting) home ports. Marvel at Times Square, take in a Broadway show, wander Central Park and fall in love with the most famous city on Earth.
The City that Never Sleeps, but loves to Sail
There’s a reason New York City has been one of the world’s most beloved destinations for dreamers of every walk of life since its days as Fort Amsterdam. Quite arguably the most famous city on Earth and home to over 8 million people, there’s literally no limit to the things you can do and see here.
Sailing into Brooklyn Cruise Terminal Pier 12 places you right on the waterfront in one of New York City’s most vibrant boroughs. From here, you’re moments away from sweeping skyline views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, and the Brooklyn Bridge the perfect welcome (or farewell) to the city that never sleeps. Explore Brooklyn’s own iconic neighborhoods, from the cobblestone streets of DUMBO to the boutiques, cafés, and brownstones of Brooklyn Heights and Williamsburg. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge for a quintessential New York experience, or hop over to Manhattan to wander the West Village, stopping to see landmarks like the still-running Stonewall Inn and Carrie Bradshaw’s brownstone. Take in a Broadway show, visit Rockefeller Center, shop at the world’s largest Macy’s, or admire the ever-evolving windows along Fifth Avenue. See the Statue of Liberty, spend time at one of the world-class museums and galleries that make New York so special, or dive into the top-of-the-line food and drink scene on either side of the East River. However you choose to spend your time, there’s no better way to set sail or to be welcomed home than in New York City.

The city (that’s stomach) never sleeps
There are roughly 500 24-hour restaurants in New York City!
There’s no other city in the world that’s as recognizable and beloved as New York City, which is exactly why we knew it would make an idyllic homeport for us at Virgin Voyages to add it to our roster. Whether you’re looking to spend time here before setting sail or have a few hours to burn in the afternoon before making your way to one of the three major international airports that also call this city home, there is never a shortage of things to do, see, eat or celebrate in the city that never sleeps.
Take a boat ride around the statue of liberty, peruse the shops around Rockefeller Center, marvel at the windows of iconic fifth avenue, get lost in the world of Central Park, admire the bright lights of Times Square, take the subway to Brooklyn and immerse yourself in the culture at any of the galleries or museums that make this beautiful city what it is. No matter how you spend your time before setting sail or as you start your journey home, you’re sure to discover why the saying goes “New York or Nowhere.”
