Virgin Voyages FAQs for Health and Safety
Health and Safety
Congratulations on your new mini-Sailor! For health and safety reasons, Sailors must be no more than 23 weeks pregnant by the end of your voyage (meaning you may be up to 23 weeks and 6 days pregnant on the day you disembark).
Upon embarkation, you will need to provide medical documentation confirming:
Failure to provide this documentation will result in denial of boarding at your expense.
Upon embarkation, you will need to provide medical documentation confirming:
- Your good health and your baby’s health
- That your pregnancy is not considered high-risk
- That you will be no more than 23 weeks pregnant by the end of your voyage
Failure to provide this documentation will result in denial of boarding at your expense.
24 hours before your sailing, every Sailor fills out a health declaration (the health check form) in the Virgin Voyages App. If you answer "yes" to any question, you'll be sent for a secondary screening. Take a look at the CDC's general information for cruise ship travelers here before you go.
Keeping things clean is part of the deal. Our main goal is to provide an appropriate, effective, and efficient response to any communicable disease, while ensuring the health and safety of our Crew and Sailors, as well as the communities we visit.
We've got sanitizing dispensers throughout the ship, touchless faucets, clear hygiene signage, and we use U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-registered disinfectants. And since our ratio of terrace cabins is one of the highest in the industry, you've got plenty of access to salt-infused fresh air whenever you want it.

Our Crew’s safety and health is important, crew are fully vaccinated. Crew members are isolated when possible communicable disease might be identified.
If you have an existing high-risk health condition, let us know at least 48 hours before departure. Not sure if that's you, or need help figuring it out? Email accessibility@virginvoyages.com and we'll help.
If you've failed the pre-voyage assessment or answered "yes" to any question on the 24-hour health form, you'll need a health evaluation with our Ideagen Medical Care team at the boarding terminal, so we can make sure you're able to travel safely.
If you're in the high-risk group, or our onboard medical provider decides you're not fit to travel after your terminal evaluation, we won't be able to let you sail with us. We'd ask every Sailor to think honestly about their own risk for severe illness, talk it through with their doctor, and make the call that's right for them before booking or sailing.
Still have questions about whether you're considered high risk? Reach out to healthcheck@virginvoyages.com — we're glad to help.
Please talk to your physician before you travel. For more, see: CDC: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/traveler-information-center

To ensure the best possible care for impacted Sailors and to protect everyone on board our Lady Ships, Virgin Voyages maintains robust health protocols for all communicable diseases (including Influenza, Norovirus, COVID-19, Ebola, and other viral illnesses).
Onboard medical evaluation & diagnostics: If you're showing symptoms of a potential communicable illness, our onboard Medical Team will evaluate you at no cost. Our medical center is equipped with advanced diagnostic and PCR testing to quickly identify a wide range of viral and bacterial strains, so we can get you the right treatment fast.
Isolation protocols: If you test positive for a highly contagious illness, we'll ask you to isolate under our Communicable Disease Management protocols, to keep the rest of the ship healthy. For other viral infections (like standard Influenza A & B), isolation isn't automatic — our shipboard physicians will look at severity and transmission risk case by case.
While isolated, you'll still get dedicated, high-quality care from our medical team. Depending on your clinical situation and the port's regulations, isolation continues until you're cleared, or until it's safe to transfer you to a shoreside facility once we're in port.
Contact tracing & close-contact monitoring: Following a confirmed contagious diagnosis, our medical team immediately begins contact tracing to protect the ship's community. We'll follow up directly with anyone who may have been exposed to keep an eye out for early symptoms, offer preventative guidance, or run further testing if needed.

Vaccination requirements are based on your itinerary. While many major cruise lines have lifted blanket mandates for standard domestic sailings, specific international ports enforce their own health regulations.
Since rules vary by port of call and by where you're traveling from and through, please check local and destination requirements for every stop on your itinerary — per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines — before you set sail.

We never want you to miss a single day of your voyage, so if you're placed in isolation, we'll issue a prorated Future Voyage Credit (FVC) based on the fare you paid (excluding taxes and fees). Isolation isn't ideal, we know that, but it's how we keep all Sailors at their best — including you.
If you're diagnosed with a suspected communicable disease on board, you'll stay safely in your cabin. We'll take care of you with complimentary ShipEats, on-demand entertainment on your cabin TV, WiFi, and we'll cover your onboard medical care and testing. Our Crew will work with you and local authorities to agree on a safe time for you to disembark at the end of the voyage — local regulations at that point will determine whether you can travel home as planned.
Travel insurance isn't required to sail with us, but we strongly recommend it. If you're buying a policy, check that it covers expenses related to communicable diseases as well as emergency repatriation.
