Pick your Alaska: five ways to sail north in 2028

Virgin Voyages unveils its 2028 Alaska season, with 18 sailings on Brilliant Lady from Seattle and Vancouver, four brand-new itineraries and two glaciers worth the trip alone.

Virgin Voyages

Ask ten people what Alaska means to them and you'll get ten answers. Glaciers. Whales. Gold Rush towns. A week off the grid with a good book and an even better view.

So for our third season up north, we built a lineup with an Alaska for everyone: five itineraries and 18 sailings from May to September 2028, all aboard Brilliant Lady, the ship made with Alaska in mind. Every one glides through the Inside Passage. The rest is your call.

FAST FACTS

  • Total sailings: 18 across 5 itineraries, 4 of them new

So, which Alaska are you?

The bucket-lister: Alaska: Hubbard, Inside Passage & Juneau

10 nights · Brilliant Lady · Vancouver to Seattle · May 1st to 11th, 2028

You want the greatest hits, and you want them in one go. Juneau, the state capital you can only reach by sea or air, with Mendenhall Glacier a short hop from the dock. Skagway's Gold Rush streets. Whales and the region's biggest zipline at Icy Strait Point. Totem poles in Ketchikan. Then a full day in front of Hubbard Glacier, with nothing to do but stare. It also opens the season, so you'll be first in line.

The one-week wonder: Alaska: Inside Passage & Glacial Fjords

7 nights · Brilliant Lady · Seattle roundtrip · 14 sailings across the season

Short on days, big on scenery. Totem poles and Creek Street's waterfront in Ketchikan. Sea otters and Russian-American history in Sitka. A full day sliding through Endicott Arm, a fjord so narrow the walls feel close enough to touch, all the way to Dawes Glacier. Then Victoria for gardens and afternoon tea, a finish most Alaska itineraries don't bother with.

The completist: Alaska: Hubbard, Inside Passage & Juneau

12 nights · Brilliant Lady · Seattle roundtrip · July 13th to 25th, 2028

If you've ever asked whether 7 nights is enough, meet your answer. Six ports: Ketchikan, Sitka, Icy Strait Point, Haines, Juneau and Skagway, plus a full day at Hubbard Glacier. Haines is the hidden gem, with bald eagles, Tlingit culture and barely a crowd in sight. Juneau gets a longer call, so you can actually settle into the capital.

The glacier chaser: Alaska: Hubbard Glacier & Inside Passage

9 nights · Brilliant Lady · Seattle roundtrip · July 25th to Aug. 3rd, 2028

You came for the ice, and this one delivers. Extra sea days and a slow, unhurried day at Hubbard Glacier, one of North America's most active tidewater glaciers. Sitka for wildlife, Haines for peace and quiet.

The last-call Sailor: Alaska: Inside Passage & Glacial Fjords

7 nights · Brilliant Lady · Seattle to Vancouver · Sept. 7th to 14th, 2028

Crisp air, quieter ports and the tail end of wildlife season. You get the same standout stops as our Alaska week (Ketchikan, Sitka, Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier and Victoria) with a one-way finish in Vancouver. Stay a few extra days and call it a two-city trip.

Why Alaska feels different with us

Brilliant Lady was built with Alaska in mind, so the view always gets the best seat. Deck daybeds come with blankets for glacier-gazing, and the balconies come with red hammocks for watching the coastline drift by. Dinner brings Alaska on board, with local ingredients and recipes marked right on the menu. Our Alaska-only Happenings cast, starring a lumberjack and a naturalist, is way more show than lecture. Ashore, pick your Shore Thing: Essential, Elevated with a few extras, or Exclusive experiences you'll only find with us.

And since every Sailor on board is an adult, the loudest thing on deck will be a calving glacier.

Hubbard or Dawes?

Go big with Hubbard Glacier on the 10, 12 and 9-night sailings, a full day in front of one of North America's most active tidewater glaciers. Or go intimate with Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier on both 7-nights, a narrow fjord with walls so close you'll find yourself whispering.

Why book early

Alaska fills up fast, and moving first has its perks:

  • Loyalty Sailors: book within two weeks of Nov. 12th and get a $100 Bar Tab, so the first few rounds are on us
  • My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV): holding a placeholder? It's never had a better use. Book onboard for exclusive perks that stack with the bar tab.

Bookings open Nov. 12th, 2026, for all 18 sailings.
